Very early in the boot process, before the getty etc are fired up, I want to fire up a process that talks over a full tty.
Add "break" to have Debian-flavoured ramdisk drop to busybox shell prior to pivot_root? Add init=/bin/sh to get a tty before (rather: instead of) init? Not sure how early you want.
