For optimum screen sharing performance on laptops we recommend a quad core processor or higher. support.zoom.us No experience with NBN unlimited plans, but you could have a look here: https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Australia/Victoria NBN Victoria | Compare NBN Plans In My Area | WhistleOut<https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Australia/Victoria> The NBN is available in Victoria. The fastest NBN speeds in Victoria are up to 100 Mbps, on plans starting from $69.95/mth. Prices for basic NBN plans start from $29.99/mth. www.whistleout.com.au Personally I have a cheap Telstra XS plan - $15/month for 5GB fast 4G that shapes down to 1.5Mbps unlimited (but it does say that rate may drop in busy times, though I haven't experienced it myself). Mobile Plans - Telstra<https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summaries/personal/mobile-broadband/mobile-broadband-plans/telstra-data-plans> Once you exceed your included data allowance, your speed will be capped at 1.5Mbps, and slowed further in busy periods. This means it is not suitable for HD video or high speed applications and means that some webpages, videos, social media content and files may take longer to load, but you can still stream video in standard definition, listen to music, browse the web and access social media ... www.telstra.com.au ________________________________ From: stripes theotoky <stripes.theotoky@googlemail.com> Sent: Sunday, 29 March 2020 9:39 PM To: Andrew Voumard <andrewv@melbpc.org.au>; LUV mailing list <luv-main@luv.asn.au> Subject: Re: Advice on broadband options On Sun, 29 Mar 2020 at 10:29, Andrew Voumard via luv-main <luv-main@luv.asn.au<mailto:luv-main@luv.asn.au>> wrote: Any possibility of asking a neighbor with a fixed unlimited connection to share their connection via wifi for some contribution to their monthly fee ? ________________________________ From: luv-main <luv-main-bounces@luv.asn.au<mailto:luv-main-bounces@luv.asn.au>> on behalf of stripes theotoky via luv-main <luv-main@luv.asn.au<mailto:luv-main@luv.asn.au>> Sent: Sunday, 29 March 2020 9:21 PM To: mlug-au@googlegroups.com<mailto:mlug-au@googlegroups.com> <mlug-au@googlegroups.com<mailto:mlug-au@googlegroups.com>>; LUV mailing list <luv-main@luv.asn.au<mailto:luv-main@luv.asn.au>> Subject: Advice on broadband options Hi to all, Now my university is closed for the duration of the health crisis, I have to give at least 16 hours of tutorials / lectures a week via zoom. The audience varies between 20 and 80 students. As my only internet connections are: 1. is a dongle (with Vodafone) that has 3GB , and 2. my mobile phone with 60GB (also with Vodafone) I am urgently in need of a much better connection. Any advice on what and with whom? I am in rented accommodation in Macleod, pretty much a mobile blackspot, and the landlord doesn't like the idea of cable being brought to the premises. Thanks Joanna I have done this already. No luck there: one neighbour using her phone as hotspot, the other is an old lady no internet. Any idea how much bandwidth these zoom sessions will consume? Also, any recommendations for quick/immediate unlimited broadband in case I manage to persuade the landlord? Thanks J. -- Stripes Theotoky _______________________________________________ luv-main mailing list luv-main@luv.asn.au<mailto:luv-main@luv.asn.au> https://lists.luv.asn.au/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/luv-main -- Stripes Theotoky -37 .713869 145.050562 [http://theotoky.v-serv.go-medical.de/SQ-ALL.jpg]
