Stay the hell away from Lenovo Thinkpad's -- they've become quite nasty and unfriendly in latter years. Even before the issues below, they were doing BIOS-level stuff, like locking you to whitelisted IDs so you couldn't repair/replace/upgrade parts yourself, and Linux compatibility was not something they cared about maintaining for drivers. But the people who thought it was a good idea were involved with the Think branded PCs.
