Hello All,
I am about to load Debian 7 (Wheezy) on an Acer notebook. I have the .debs from Squeeze, will they work, do I need to rename, where might I be able to get the appropriate Wheezy variants. I found these via Google, and have in the root directory on a USB stick.
First page of results was only squeeze versions, second page had a link for an index of mirrors, and found multiple versions. In one sense, I much prefer to stick to the full GPL software, but these bits do help with nonstandard hardware components, especially for the networking. http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/debian/pool/non-free/f/firmware-nonfree/

This time, gone for the slightly later .debs without a release designation. There was a Wheezy version, and a later without saying which release. I shall put on a USB memory stick and install tomorrow, all being well. I maybe should take the Wheezy versions, but the unstated release, just version number is a couple of months more recent, and slightly larger. Regards, Mark Trickett
