I've been going around in circles in various forums and on google chasing this. I'm running Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) Update 4 with Cinnamon. I've installed MS Office 2010 via PlayOnLinux and now want to alter the behaviour of the desktop, nautilus and the like such that if I dbl-click a .pptx file it open will open in PowerPoint 2010.
The prescribed method is right-click on a file of this type in Nautlius, then go Properties -> Open With -> Show Other Applications and then choose the one you want. But Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 is not an option present (nor for that matter are the other Office apps).
So, how do I either get them in that list or what can I edit directly to make it so?
Not sure about PlayOnLInux, but I think in raw Wine, if Winetweak is used to install Office, it will install an Office option in the menu and applications will be linked correctly. Bear in mind though that this may not work with Cinnamon. I know it does not work with all desktops. Daniel.
