Ah, grateful thanks. I hadn't found that.
However, firefox does not honour that setting. Although it is set to "Show my home page", where Home_Page is "Mozilla Firefox Start Page", on about a third of start-ups, it spuriously cranks away loading yesterday's links, and I have to whack them all with a shovel. (I just start firefox by clicking the icon at the top of the screen. It's hard to be more standard than that, I figure.)
When I have multiple open pages, I get a query box about whether to save the sessions, and it has a checkbox to not ask. I carefully leave unchecked. There is no question if only one tab, especially the home page.
The firefox version is 12.0, the result of an upgrade in the last few weeks. That is when the behaviour degenerated. With your information, it now looks more like a bug than a misconfiguration.
It might be honouring something you have forgotten. There is also access to configuration, how about the in browser web page configuration that is accessed by the correct URL?
