If you want throughput, then I don't think the pi will be the answer. USB 3.0 is the go these days and the Pi only has 2.0 ports. Also, the Ethernet is just 10/100 as well. Raspberry Pi has a 10/100 Ethernet port which is driven via USB 2.0 1[1] I don't know, perhaps a new small box with 3.0 ports running as a USB server?
