I've been getting occasional kernel errors over the past few weeks. Should I worry?

I cannot directly help you with the worried query except that whenever the kernel starts putting out errors one shouid get worried. Now the traces say tainted, this usually means you have a closed src driver loaded, in this case possibly a driver for a graphics card. This will be the place to start. Closed src drivers cannot directly talk to the kernel and as there programming is unknown this is a long time src of problems. You could try a newer (or older) version and see what happens. Some closed src drivers also work better with certain kernel versions so updating the kernel __may__ help. If you are using an AMD/ATI based video card with the closed src driver you may consider using the current open src driver, for most uses on home desktop machines this driver is far superior to FGLRX. The only real thing FGLRX has going for it is good 3D performance and support for latter versions of openGL. Lindsay
