While actively supporting phone vendors in restricting their customers isn't a desirable thing (IMHO and probably most DDs agree) it's not unreasonable for a company to want to do this to make money.
In the video, the issue of filesystem access, seemed to be more about the requirements of 'warranty insurance' ; than patentable devices ? regards Rohan McLeod
