At the moment we could really do with some donations of DDR3 RAM to the Hardware Library. In particular we need 4G DDR3 DIMMs for the systems that are used for running training sessions. We have some plans for training sessions at the Beginners' SIG meetings that require more RAM.
ECC server RAM? I can probably source quite a bit.
There usually isn't a lot of demand for that because most people don't have systems capable of using it. That said RAM is small and light so there's no harm in having it just in case. Also I could use some ECC DDR3 PC-12800 unbuffered RAM for one of my systems if you have some to spare. Not sure which of the subvariants of DDR3 will work, it would be good if I could get some of each type and keep the ones that work.
Also for the hardware library there is ongoing interest in SATA disks and ATI PCIe video cards.
I do have someone with lots of SAS disks between 73GB and 320GB if that
We have had a 15,000rpm SAS 73G disk in the hardware library for months with no takers while SATA disks tend to last a few minutes. SAS disks don't work with SATA controllers so not many people can use them. However if you had SAS controllers to go with the disks then there might be some interest!
helps. Also some dual Xeon 1RU and 2RU servers.
Don't bring them to the meeting without finding someone who wants them as there isn't a lot of demand. It might be good if we could have some servers on-site where we have the beginners' meetings for training. If they are setup with KVM we can just copy the images on to them the night before the training.
