ubuntu's grub configuration is fucked up. it was bad enough in previous

to make it sane, you need to:
It isn't just grub in ubuntu it is the whole approach they have to moving to embedded devices (tablets/car dashboards etc) , I was running a HP tablet pc with wacom digitiser and was using ubuntu as it pretty much just worked, then along came unity (utter crap) so I switched to Xubuntu I went along with it for a while and in the last two months just said fuck it, gave the tablet to my brother who does art with it and I got a desktop and a Galaxy TAB 10.1 for the touch screen stuff when I need it. As I am now running a desktop with pretty standard hardware I don't have to rely on using an ubuntu (or variant) install to get the laptop/tablet stuff working and am now running Debian and couldn't be happier.
