Gosh it's been a long time since I've interacted on the mailing lists!
I'm unsure where or how I should list free hardware for people - I work in the arts (am an artist) and I have access to heaps of free computers that were quite high powered just a couple of years ago, as well as quite a few Apples of various ages.
If the hardware runs Linux or can be used to run Linux then this list is appropriate. At the moment I've had people ask me for a couple of Linux gaming systems. While dual-core systems (which I have in my spares pile) are mostly OK for that I'd rather get quad-core systems if possible to keep them going for longer. If you have some spare quad-core systems then I'd be happy to take them and find a good home for them. I have plenty of RAM and hard drives so happy to take systems without RAM or storage. I would also like to have a Mac for fooling around with.
I know that there is a hardware library of some sort (is that still current?) but I was wondering if there was a place where people list hardware for others to take/use?
The "hardware library" fits into a brief case that I take to meetings. Anyone who has stuff to donate that fits into the case can just deposit it. I also accept donations of PCs by arrangement as I am not always able to transport PCs (I sometimes take public transport). I can't attend the November main meeting but could arrange to get stuff later in November.
It seems I'm increasingly inundated with free hardware lately, but honestly I'm fine with the machines I have and don't want to take on any more computers (I only have 2 hands!).
Parts that are of particular interest include DDR3 RAM (for laptops and desktops), SSDs, SATA disks 500G and bigger, FullHD monitors, and USB devices. Thanks! -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
