You think that's bad? I was trying AFS once, and I can't remember the details but everything is under something like /freddy and I asked their IRC channel "why freddy?" and they said "well, that was the first host that ran AFS, and now it is hard-coded throughout the entire codebase, so everyone must refer to it FOR EVER".
