Hi Russell, Not sure which machine type you are looking at but the R-series server normally come with 4 x networking ports on the back of them. You can get 2x 1G ports and 2x 10G ports. I would say the thing to look for is just having an SFP+ port. This way when the time comes you can make the call to use either Fibre, Cat 6 or Twinax cabling as you just need to get the right Module for the first two or the Twinax will plug directly into the port. (I think I've rolled out 10G NICs before, but I don't remember the details. I'm pretty sure they were Intel and they Just Worked. Don't remember what connector was used.)
