Bob,
As a gay man, I take offence to such a derogatory word as "poof" and being that it is no longer the dark ages, and this list is for communication about Linux/open source activities (not homophobia banter), then the comment is inappropriate. In fact, "free speech" is far to often used as an excuse to exclude people under the guise of "speaking freely".
This is not madness, and its time people like yourself understood that someone you communicate with could well possibly be gay, and would be upset as the word " poof" is used.

Hmmm,

Not that I agree with the terminology used, or the thinly veiled implication, but whatever happened to 'free speech'? Personal responses to such poor taste may be appropriate, but the pressures within social media etc to conform to the views of pressure groups and all sorts of lobbyists is becoming tiresome - as is the public threat of action by some 'higher authority'. Next we won't be able to say 'girl' on this in public - perhaps naturally assigned female gender or NAFG?
I'm sorry did you just say iPoofs? This is totally inappropriate in anyYes it is.
context.
Slurs against minority groups are unacceptable.
In future place CC messages about such behavior to the LUV committee so we can
take action if appropriate.
Perhaps rather than place such personal social pressure publicly within this forum it could be done by PM?
LUV Talk anyway
