For the record, ZFS on the same system coped fine with the same test. (ie. Rudely unplugged USB drives that were part of a RAIDZ array). (The kernel md infrastructure coped OK too) ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Harper" <james.harper@bendigoit.com.au> To: "Toby Corkindale" <toby.corkindale@strategicdata.com.au> Cc: russell@coker.com.au, luv-main@luv.asn.au Sent: Monday, 18 June, 2012 12:05:54 PM Subject: RE: BTRFS conversion

In my testing (albeit only up to kernel 3.2), the result of that was a complete kernel segfault and halt. Btrfs really did NOT like having its devices disappear from under it!
Ouch. Better than losing your data (assuming you didn't!) but still not really desirable. I wonder if it was BTRFS causing the crash or the USB subsystem. James
