My family is using Ubuntu and Firefox to access various banks without problems: Westpac, Bendigo Bank, ANZ, HSBC. I worked at NAB's Dockland building several years ago, and the "web team" was proud about their compatibility record then. They tested against various clients and operating systems regularly.
