Melbourne job. Linux Engineer / Sysadmin 3 to 6 month contract This is a three month contract initially with possible extension to six months. This company is relocating approximately 30 physical Linux machines including approximately 50 virtual machines and terabytes of storage. These 30 machines carry out a wide variety of functions. We are looking for someone who is able to carry out the technical aspect of this project. You will need to: ** take an inventory of the machines ** carry out a thorough hands on investigation of the machines ** gain an understanding of the software running on those machines ** gain an understanding of the dependencies that those machines have on other servers ** gain an understanding of the network configuration You will then work with the in-house Linux engineers and project management team to formulate and execute a plan to move the machines to their new hosting facility. To succeed in this role you will require: ** senior level Linux experience ** database admin experience ** networking experience ** security experience ** storage and backups experience ** monitoring experience ** documentation and planning skills ** ability to manage and communicate the process effectively Ideally you will also have experience carrying out similar projects and you will understand how to move mission critical systems with a minimum of downtime and with zero disasters.
