Hola open source and linux-istas! Welcome to the spring edition of the Geelong Linux and Open Source Wrap, please find below news you might be interested in. LOCAL - Linux Users' Victoria will hold their Annual General Meeting on 4th September at Buzzard Lecture Theatre, Trinity College, Melbourne University. The AGM will include announcement of election results. To nominate, see further information on the site: http://luv.asn.au/2012/09/04 - LUV will also be holding Software Freedom Day on Saturday 15th September in East Melbourne. Details are not available as yet, but should be available at http://luv.asn.au shortly - Local arduino and open hardware types are very interested in getting a Geelong Hackerspace off the ground. Follow the Google Group to keep in the loop: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/geelong-hackerspace AUSTRALIA - linux.conf.au 2013 will be held in Canberra. If you submitted a talk proposal, you should be notified shortly. Costings are up already (wow!) if you want to start saving: https://team.linux.conf.au/wordpress/?_code=301 And a number of miniconfs have been announced, including mFOSS - http://lca2013.linux.org.au/media/news/41 - No bids were received for 2014 and much discussion on the nature of linux.conf.au has ensued. I had originally planned to bid for Geelong for 2014, but just ran out of time and had concerns about how much commitment it was given the huge effort that was Ballarat 2012. You can join the conversaton at http://lists.linux.org.au/pipermail/linux-aus/ THE WORLD - I'm fortunate enough to be attending Open Source Systems 2012 in Hammamet, Tunisia (http://www.oss2012.org/) and LinuxCon Europe in Barcelona (http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-europe) and will send through an update when I'm back in November.
