Hey Kathy, thanks so much for organizing it & the speakers too!
Welcome :-)
Some random thoughts for next meeting...
Great suggestions - thanks!
-- is anyone interested to do some tutorials? (Maybe introduction level - 30min or so), doesn't have to be too technical.
Computer access will be an issue, but I figured most people would have their own lappy, I could probably swing wireless access (sorry about that Daniel). Tutorials are a great idea - anyone want to give one? (I've done them before on WordPress, Inkscape, GIMP, and Anki would be happy to give again)
-- I've been to the Melbourne free-software group before and they have topics for discussion each meet-up, maybe doesn't have to be so organized --- since we discuss stuff anyway, but could be worth doing.
Agreed - great idea. Really enjoyed our discussion on M$ knobbling adoption of free software in schools.
-- When? (is the plan to make this regular at all, monthly, bi-monthly or so?), maybe this was mentioned and I missed it. ... also realize this takes some effort so would be good to know if help is needed.
Would love to make this a regular thing - monthly is probably the best frequency. Will be guided by the group as to timing / days / etc. Were Thursdays good? Was the time good for everyone? Re: help - pretty much all good, just had a busy day that day so didn't have as much time to prepare. The Uni has been *super* supportive of all the open source stuff I've been involved in (like BarCampGeelong etc). The key issue seems to be getting the Marketing people (who deal with room bookings for university stuff) to talk to the Security people about what's going on - just means a few phone calls. Kind regards, K.
