Hi Peter.
A quick search on Google shows me that your printer is supported by
the HPLIP packages.
run "sudo aptitude install hplip hplip-gui" to install these packages.
(And if you want access to the scanner too, add sane and xsane to the
list of packages in the above command.
Then run "sudo hp-setup", and select the "Jetdirect" option.
The IP address looks like it has been assigned by DHCP from your router.
It may well be worth either to lock down that IP address at the router
DHCP settings, or set the IP address as a static on the printer itself.
The goal being to ensure its IP address doesn't change from time to time.
Here's where I found the info.

Hope this helps.

Morrie.

Subject: Re: [luv-beginners] wireless printing.
I have tried the wireless setup on the printer menu and connected to my
home router successfully.Not
sure if that is required. However, the printer now says it's IP address
is 192.168.0.11.Not sure if that is the IP address that is relevant.

I am trying to do wireless printing for the first
time with Linux
but have not succeeded so far.
I have a HP photosmart 5520 printer which may not be working properly using
a wireless connection. The printer sends out a wifi signal which I am able to
connect to using my computer.A notification pops up saying I have connected
to it.I am using Linux Mint 18.I don't know where to go from there. How do I
print a test page? I have opened system-configuration-printer but the
printer does not show up there like it does with a USB connection. The
printer does not print using the USB connection as there is something wrong
with the printer,I want to test it with the wirless connection before I
throw it out.
Does the printer have an IP address or hostname?
