LUV Announce: Annual General Meeting, Tuesday September 4th, 2012

Notice is given for the 2012 Annual General Meeting of Linux Users of Victoria. ====== Agenda ====== 1.0 Confirmation of Minutes of the Last AGM 2. Reports 2.1 Office-bearer's Reports from the President and Treasurer. The Secretary's report will be included in the President's Report. 1.2 Other Reports and Question. 3.0 Software Freedom Day Announce 4.0 Lightning Talks 4.x As per usual AGMs we encourage members of Linux Users of Victoria to give a short (c2-4 minute) presentation on a Linux-related application that they have been used and wish to advocate or otherwise share information with others. 5.0 Declaration of Election Results 5.1 Presented by LUV Returning Officer, Andrew Chalmers. ======================================== Nominating for the Committee. Important! ======================================== Linux Users of Victoria, Inc. is governed by an elected committee of manager as per the Associations Act of Victoria. In our case, the committee organisers events, such as the main meetings and beginner's workshops, and all forms of publicity promoting LUV and Linux use, along with raising funds for those objectives. The committee consists of four office-bearers (a President, a Vice-President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary), and four ordinary members. Any member of LUV may nominate for one or more committee positions, but may only be elected to one position. Nominations require acceptance from the nominee before they become a candidate. A person may nominate themselves. Nominations for any of the above positions should be sent to Andrew Chalmers, the LUV Returning Officer, achalmers@westnet.com.au. This is a reminder for the LUV Annual General Meeting (below), that will be held next Tuesday. 1. The location for the meeting will the same as usual, at the Buzzard Lecture Theatre, Trinity College, University of Melbourne, starting at 7pm. 2. Nominations for committee must be received by the Returning Officer by this Friday at 11.59pm.
