(Note, deadline for committee nominations is 27 August.) * Lightning talks Agenda for Linux Users of Victoria, Inc., Annual General Meeting As per rule 9 of Linux Users of Victoria, notification is given for our Annual General Meeting, to be held at 19:00 hours on Tuesday 3rd of September at the Buzzard Lecture Theatre, Evan-Burge Building, University of Melbourne. The agenda is: 1. Reports of President, Secretary, and Treasurer The current President, Secretary, and Treasurer will give brief reports on the activities, membership, and finances of the organisation and satisfy the requirements under the Act. 2. Election Nominations are sought for the position of (a) President, (b) Vice-President, (c) Secretary, (d) Treasurer and (e) four ordinary committee members. As per rule 23, nominations must be sent to the Secretary. There must be at least two nominators (a candidate can be one of these two, i.e., you can nominate yourself) and nomination is contingent on being accepted by the nominee. Nominations must be received by midnight of the 27th of August. 3.1 Motion of Disincorporation A motion will be put concerning disincorporation of LUV, Inc., and to convert Linux Users of Victoria as a subcommittee of Linux Australia, Inc. In the event of winding up, the assets of the association must be disposed of in accordance to the provisions of the Act. 3.2 Motion of Change to Constitution re: Secretary and Public Officer As per changes in the Act last year, a motion will be put to combine the roles of Public Officer and Secretary. Note that this motion will be put only if the motion of disincorporation fails. 4. General Business Any General Business that must be dealt with at this meeting can be brought up here. 5. Lightning Talks The LUV AGM seeks lightning talks from members: brief presentations (c. 5 minutes) of a Linux related technology that they are using or wish to explore. Parking within Trinity College is unfortunately only available to staff. For those coming via Public Transport, the number 19 tram (North Coburg - City) passes by the main entrance of Trinity College (Get off at Morrah St, Stop 12). We are open to suggestions for a good place to eat near our venue. Maria's on Peel Street in North Melbourne is currently the most popular place to eat after meetings.
