Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format first specified by Adobe
Systems in 1993. It was a proprietary format until it was released as an
open standard on July 1, 2008, and published by the International
Organization for Standardization.
This workshop presentation will provide various ways that PDF files can
can be efficiently manipulated in Linux and other free software that may
not be easy in proprietary operating systems or applications.
*Lev Lafayette* is the Senior HPC Support and Training Officer at the
University of Melbourne, where he has been for three years. For eight
years prior to that he worked at the Victorian Partnership for Advanced
Computing in a similar role. He has been a member of the Linux Users of
Victoria as a committee or public officer since 2006.
There will also be the usual casual hands-on workshop, Linux
installation, configuration and assistance and advice. Bring your laptop
if you need help with a particular issue. This will now occur BEFORE the
talks from 12:30 to 14:00. The talks will commence at 14:00 (2pm) so
there is time for people to have lunch nearby.
